Best Birthday I Ever Had

When I was 8 years old, my birthday was on Friday, the 13th. This is the first time I can remember it being on a Friday.

In 1983, Cabbage Patch Kids were the biggest thing to hit the toy market. Parents were wrestling these chubby cheeked funny looking kids supposedly born in a cabbage patch. My cousin worked at Mervins and helped my grandmother secure one for my birthday. I was so very excited that I placed my new friend in the basket of my pink Huffy and rode all over the neighborhood to show everyone.

Ever since then, the number 13th has been my favorite number and I get extra excited when my day falls on a Friday. When I was pregnant, I even wanted to name my son, Thirteen. Since my husband thought I was insane, we ended up naming him, Dustin.

I always thought after your pregnancy you would block out the fact that you wanted to name him Thirteen BUT today I realize that had you caught Rob in a weak moment you may have actually named him Thirteen! I like Dustin much much better :)

Your post about birthdays totally made me smile remembering my own Huffy bike and the numerous years it took Santa to bring me a CPK :)

I had 2 cabbage patch kids when I was young...In fact I think I still have them stored away in a box somewhere!! Crazy, heh?

My best birthday....hard to remember....however, they seem to be getting better! Last year I went bowling with all my crazy, fun friends. Sigh....

I was really hoping the dolls would turn out to be little Chuckies, what with being Friday the 13th and all, lol! I'm sure your son will thank you in years to come for calling him Dustin. I can remember my first cabbage patch kid, too. It was such a big deal

My favourite birthday? When I turned 8 and my parents told me it was ok for me to skip school so I could stay home just chillin. It was awesome. I wish I could have made of it a yearly ritual!
